Helping the Planet One Honeysuckle At A Time
The month of April is dedicated to giving back, both to the community and planet Earth. Between Earth Day and Arbor Day, and being a month dedicated to spring and blooming, April is a great month to get out and volunteer. As a winery that has based its entire brand on wildlife and the neighboring Montezuma Refuge, we wanted to help give back. To do this, two of us went out to the Montezuma Audubon Center. Kelly, our Marketing Manager and Olivia, our Social Media Manager & Graphic Design Coordinator, teamed up to help pull Honeysuckle. We joined multiple other volunteers to help pop and pull out as much Honeysuckle as we could. Honeysuckle is an invasive species that takes away room and sunshine from other plants. Getting rid of them helps the beautiful plants that we know and love grow and flourish while also helping the bird community.
The Montezuma Audubon Center and The National Montezuma Refuge host a MARSH program with various volunteer opportunities. From weed pulling to seed collecting to water chestnut gathering, there is something for everyone.
